Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Philosophaize collects when you use the iPhone app and this website, how it's used, and the choices you have.

The short version

Philosophaize lets you talk through your life with AI renderings of historical philosophers. To do that, what you write or say is sent to our servers and to the AI services that write and voice the replies. We don't sell your information, and you can delete your conversations or your whole account at any time.

What we collect

  • An account identifier. Everyone gets an anonymous account. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we also keep the email address and name those services share with us.
  • Your onboarding answers and the sentence you write, which we use to choose your first philosopher and write his first reply.
  • Your conversations: the messages you send and the replies you receive, so you can return to them in History.
  • Voice: when you talk out loud, your speech is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition, entirely on your device. Your voice never leaves your phone; we receive only the text.
  • Usage and diagnostics: which screens you visit, crashes, and app performance (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Mixpanel), and how you found the app (Adjust).
  • Purchases: whether you have an active subscription. Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card details.

How we use it

To write and speak the philosophers' replies, keep your conversation history, provide and secure the service, prevent abuse (including daily usage limits), understand how the app is used so we can improve it, and support you when you write to us.

Who processes it for us

  • Google Firebase stores your account and conversations and runs our servers.
  • Anthropic generates the philosophers' replies from your messages, under terms that do not allow it to train its models on them.
  • ElevenLabs turns the text of a reply into the philosopher's voice when you listen.
  • Superwall and Apple handle subscriptions; Mixpanel, Firebase Analytics, and Adjust help us measure usage.

Each processes information only to provide its service to us.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, advertising trackers, or analytics. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) for security and reliability. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.

Keeping and deleting

Conversations are kept until you delete them (swipe left in History) or delete your account (Settings → Delete Account), which permanently removes your account, your onboarding answers, and every conversation.

Children

Philosophaize is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your information, or to object to how we use it. Most of this you can do in the app; for anything else, write to us.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app when the change matters. Questions: team@applitudeapps.com.
